Map the overlap
Mark food-contact surfaces, floors, drains, appliance edges, waste points, monitors and product locations. Record the cleaning chemicals and equipment normally used. The pest professional should identify the exact restriction; the cleaning supervisor should translate it into the shift schedule.
For example, “do not clean the kitchen” leaves spills and food-contact duties unresolved. “Continue the normal food-contact-surface schedule; do not move the two labelled monitoring points; report damage to facilities” is actionable when it matches the pest method.
Current FSA guidance tells food businesses to check for pests, retain contractor visit details and actions, and prevent pest-control bait or chemicals contacting food, packaging, equipment or surfaces. HSE says biocides must be suitable for their intended use and their labels followed. The handover must preserve both sets of requirements.
Give each team a clear route
The pest technician records locations, product or device restrictions and review date. The cleaning supervisor briefs staff and records exceptions. Facilities handles leaks, proofing and access. Management resolves conflicts before work continues.
Include spill response, a damaged device, missed access and what to do if evidence is cleaned accidentally. Nobody should improvise by moving bait, adding spray or stopping all hygiene work.
At review, confirm which restrictions end, which continue and whether the written cleaning schedule returns to normal. Keep the updated handover with the visit report.
