Bird spikes can be used in a variety of ways, to line edges of buildings so bird droppings don’t go over the edges, on top of A/C units, window sills or as shown here on signage. The most important part of this is it doesn’t allow birds to lower the quality of the look of your premises.

Once of the annoying things about birds is that unless you get all the areas they can use covered then they will move to something else. We pride ourselves on making sure that all areas they can use have been identified and included in the plan to restrict them. Areas like in the photo to the right are prime areas they can pick. Lights are usually in areas people will be so can be a droppings risk otherwise.

It is not just droppings to consider, they have a habit of pulling and tugging on rubber and plastic in an area they want to nest so they can cause damage to the item they’re on. Light fixtures have rubber seals etc which can be compromised by them.

Sometimes you have to net off entire areas to contain them from birds getting access.

Sometimes there is a need to restrict bird access to roof areas where people will be using, we can create netting shapes to still allow access for people but not for birds.

One fairly simple idea is if you have a building where you have a lot of ceiling areas birds can get into to roost and nest to contain the open areas. So if they fly in through open shutters, netting off ceiling areas, areas open into the fabric of the building it keeps them away from these areas rather than dealing with each individual girder, light, fixture etc.
Save cleaning
By netting off these areas before the problem arrives it saves having to clean and repair if birds get up there before it can be dealt with.
Still have human access
As you can see from this photo there is a netting zip installed, this allows people to open the zip to gain access through the netting so it means areas aren’t unaccessable if they have had netting installed.

Sometimes various areas aren’t safely or conveniently accessible using ladders etc and so cherry pickers can be used.

There are various benefits to using them, some are the height you are able to get up to, others are the equipment you can take with you, sometimes it’s having two people so 4 hands to acheive what you are trying to.

In a lot of cases to keep costs down we can use ladders to gain access, this also can save arranging empty staff parking spaces for equipment etc. It depends which we can use from project to project.

Roosting in guttering box
Here is a project where pigeons were roosting inside a guttering box and getting into the cavity. We netted the area over to restrict their access. Click on the sections below to uncover the images.

The opening allowed them to get inside for shelter and they created a nest.

So firstly the tensioning cable is installed to create the frame for the netting to keep it tight. Then the netting installed to be under tension. Lastly spikes were installed in the box so they couldn’t perch on it.

Below are some frequently asked questions with answers to hopefully answer most of the things you want to know.
Yes, our treatments are safe. All bait is put into areas where you cannot access it and there is only risk if you consume it. If you choose a proofing appointment then you can request that no poison bait is used.
Rodents will live under properties in burrows in the soil as their behaviour tells them to do. They come in for food and nesting material (shredded paper or plastic bags) to line nests with but then leave to go back to safety. Our homes with us and pets are fraught with danger for them so they sneak in and out at night.
Usualy not no, most mice in houses are the house mouse rather than the field mouse. These live in and travel between buildings, so they are already in the walls and under the floors etc. They use the holes around pipes etc to get into your living areas.
Rodents are active during the evening, through the night and in the early morning. Due to this we do our rodent appointments (especially proofing programmes) typically during the hours of around 9-5 as we don’t want to risk trapping them in, only out.
Yes with the proofing programme we have a guarantee which is for 3 months. If there is to be a sighting you’ll know in roughly 7 days but 3 months is for peace of mind
Yes, especially worktops where food is prepared. As mice do not have waste control, it just falls out of them where ever they go, there is disease risk where ever they have been (which usually includes up on the worktops where you prepare food). Use antibacterial products for counter tops and floors etc.
