WATCH & PREPARE

You’ve booked your bed-bug treatment — how to prepare

If you have booked a bed-bug treatment, please watch this video before your appointment. It explains the practical preparation to discuss with the team, including laundry, cleaning, people, pets and access.

Follow the written instructions for your agreed treatment if they differ. No YouTube content loads until you choose to play.

First: confirm the instructions for your appointment

Preparation makes it easier to inspect and treat the right places. Use this guide to organise questions, then follow the checklist supplied for your property and chosen method. Contact us before the appointment if lifting, laundry, access or leaving home will be difficult.

Work through the room, without spreading the problem

Tell us what has happened

List the rooms involved, signs you have seen and any previous products or treatments. Include nearby seating or other sleeping areas. Share access restrictions and household needs before the visit.

Plan for people and pets

Arrange somewhere suitable to go if the method requires you to leave. Ask exactly who must be out, whether the whole property is excluded, and what conditions must be met before returning.

Handle laundry in a contained way

Ask which bedding and textiles should be processed and when. Keep affected items contained while moving them to laundry facilities; do not shake them through the home. Use only the agreed fabric-safe laundering or drying method and keep processed items separate.

Make access possible

Clear safe walking routes and discuss access to bed edges, headboards and affected furniture. Avoid moving suspect belongings into clean rooms. Ask before dismantling furniture or removing electrical fittings.

Clarify cleaning before the visit

Ask which areas should be cleaned or vacuumed beforehand and how any collected material should be contained. Preparation instructions differ from aftercare: cleaning a treated surface afterwards can remove a residual product.

Get the plan in writing

Confirm arrival arrangements, treatment scope, total price, re-entry conditions and the aftercare contact. If anything is unclear, call before doing more preparation.

Preparation questions

Should I strip the bed before you arrive?

Follow the appointment instructions. Ask which items should be removed, contained and laundered, and whether the technician needs to inspect them first.

Must everything be washed at 60°C?

Do not assume every item can tolerate the same process. Confirm the appropriate method for each item with the team and follow fabric-care labels. Tell us about delicate or non-washable belongings.

Should I empty every cupboard?

Only where the agreed preparation requires it. Unnecessary movement can spread belongings and make the visit harder. Ask which storage and furniture need access.

What if I cannot complete the preparation?

Call as early as possible. Explain the specific obstacle so the team can discuss what is essential and whether the appointment needs adjustment.

Can I stay in another room during treatment?

Do not assume that is permitted. Exclusion may apply to the entire property, depending on the treatment. Confirm this before the day.

Does the video replace my appointment instructions?

No. It explains the general process. Your current written instructions and the product label govern the actual visit.
