PEST CONTROL. PEOPLE FIRST.
After bed-bug treatment: your aftercare guide
Returning home, protecting treated areas and reporting fresh signs, guided by the treatment report for your property.
Tell us the full property address so we can check coverage and access.

Before you go back inside
Follow the re-entry time and conditions written on your treatment report. Do not return simply because an hour or two has passed. Requirements can depend on the application, drying, ventilation and the people or animals using the property.
If the report is missing, the instructions conflict, or you cannot meet a condition, call 0203 393 2338 before returning. Keep children and pets out until the relevant requirements have been met.

Why the residual treatment must be left in place
Where a residual product has been used, it needs to remain on the specified surfaces for the agreed period. Bed bugs concealed during the visit may emerge later and encounter those treated areas. Removing the residue too soon can reduce the treatment’s effect.
Do not mop, wash, scrub or hoover the treated areas until the technician’s instructions permit it. Ask exactly which surfaces this applies to and when normal cleaning can resume. This does not mean every surface in the home must be left uncleaned, and there is no single cleaning ban suitable for all methods.
Do not add a household spray, powder, steam treatment or other product to treated areas without discussing it with the team. If you have already cleaned an area, tell us what was cleaned, how and when; do not try to replace the treatment yourself.
A simple record helps us advise you
| Record | Useful detail |
|---|---|
| Sightings | Date, room, exact place and whether an insect was moving. A photo is optional. |
| Skin symptoms | When you noticed them, without assuming that this is the time you were bitten. |
| Changes at home | Cleaning, moved furniture, changed sleeping arrangements or another product used. |
| Your instructions | Re-entry requirements, protected surfaces, reporting instructions and the contact number. |
What to do in the days afterwards
Follow the agreed sleeping and room-use plan once re-entry is permitted. Ask before moving bedding or relocating to another room. Keep processed items separate as instructed and avoid carrying suspected items to another property.
Some activity may need assessment after a visit. Do not interpret one sighting as proof of failure, or a quiet night as proof that every stage is gone. Contact the team using the reporting instructions in your treatment report, especially if activity increases or appears in a new room.
Our standard service is planned around one treatment appointment. You do not need to arrange a routine checking visit: if fresh signs concern you, call with your observations so we can discuss the next step.
Aftercare questions
When can I vacuum, mop or change the bedding?
Ask separately about floors, treated edges, furniture and washable bedding. The answer depends on where products were applied and the instructions for them. Your report should identify the protected areas and the cleaning date or condition.
Is it safe once everything looks dry?
Drying may be one condition, but it is not the whole instruction. Follow all exclusion, re-entry and ventilation requirements for the treatment.
I have seen a bug after treatment. What now?
Record where and when, then follow the agreed reporting plan. Avoid adding sprays or moving to another room without advice. We can discuss the evidence with you and explain the next step.
What if I accidentally cleaned a treated area?
Tell the team rather than reapplying anything yourself. They can assess whether the cleaning affected the plan.
My skin is still itchy. Has treatment failed?
Skin reactions can continue or have another cause. Symptoms alone cannot measure treatment success. Seek healthcare advice for persistent or worsening symptoms and tell the pest team about actual room evidence.
Can my pets return at the same time as me?
Only if the job-specific instructions say so. Different animals and equipment, including aquaria, may need different arrangements.
When should I seek urgent medical help?
If you suspect exposure or feel unwell, get medical advice and keep the product details from the report available. Call 999 for severe breathing difficulty, collapse or swelling affecting the mouth or throat.
Need to clarify your report?
Call 0203 393 2338. Have the appointment date and report available so the team can answer for the treatment you actually received.
